I’m Kikiou, a China-trained fine artist based in Aotearoa New Zealand. Working primarily in painting and drawing, my practice explores colour-forward composition, soft focus, and the emotional weight of everyday observation. My images move between the recognisable and the atmospheric, using repetition, variation, and close-looking as a method.

Since 2016, I have taught drawing and painting to children, a long-term practice that has sharpened my attention to learning, memory, and the small gestures through which images are formed. I am currently developing cohesive, series-based bodies of work and a clearer research direction for MFA study, supported by critical reflection, documentation, and a sustained studio rhythm.
